16th Street, 3600 block
9 p.m. November 2. Nora Amaya, 38, the manager and co-owner of a U Street restaurant, was found unconscious on a sidewalk and might have been strangled. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
16 Street, 1900 block
1:35 p.m. November 1. A gunman approached a male at a bus stop and demanded property, and an accomplice hit the male from behind with a baseball bat. A struggle ensued, and the victim took the gun from his assailant. The two assailants fled in a vehicle parked nearby.
M Street, 400 block
6:25 a.m. November 2. A male sleeping in a vehicle was approached by a gunman who demanded cash. He complied, and the gunman fled.
Wisconsin Avenue, 2700 block
11:10 a.m. November 3. A man followed a female walking toward an apartment building, asked her a question and tried to snatch her purse. She held the strap and was dragged, screaming, until she let go. She was treated at a hospital for head injuries.
14th Street, 2100 block
12:55 p.m. October 29. A male teen approached a male near an entrance to an alley and took his iPod. The male asked for it back and followed the teen to an alley, where there were several other male teens. The victim was hit on the back of the head and fell to the ground, and his jacket also was taken.
N Street, 2000 block
6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. October 29. Property was stolen from a residence entered by prying open a door.
N Street, 2000 block
11:49 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. November 2. A residence was entered by forcing open a front door. Contents of a package that had been delivered to the address were stolen.
P Street, 2500 block
8:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. November 2. Property was stolen from an apartment.
P Street, 2700 block
9:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. October 29. Property was stolen from a liquor store entered by smashing a front window.
17th Street, 1400 block
2:30 to 7:30 a.m. October 30. Residents awoke and found a front window open. Property was reported stolen.
25th Street, 1100 block.
1:50 to 1:55 p.m. Two men grabbed an ATM customer by the arms after he had made a withdrawal. They forced him to walk to another location in the area, then took the money from his jacket and fled.
